Sweaters ... Seaming ... and Spring!!!

So ... back to the swing of things. Currently in a long stretch of Chaos, which unlike most people I actually enjoy. Travel, Friends and Family :-)

On the knitting front, I have decided that I will NEVER do a set in seam sweater again. At least without some better caveots. I am still trying to make it work. My lovely blue and brown sweater is still mostly in pieces. After two attempts, including to try and pin, I have failed. So it is currently resting, piecefully, until I have some patience back. I assume thats better than attacking it with a big pair of sissors, after which i would be quite side. I really do like the sweater, its just evil :-)

If you have never seen it ..
. Picture to the left! At least of the sleave

In the mean time, I have managed to finish a cute pair of fingerless mitts, modified with some BoSox patterns for my best friend, and some other little things are on my needles. I have been a little slow on the knitting front lately. Too many good books have come out. And reading puts a small dent in my knitting.

OH! and one more thing ... I HAVE STARTED THE MOST INCREDIBLE SWEATER EVER. Every time I look at it, I squeal like a two year old on Christmas. I just finished the back, but I dont have a picture yet so you will have to settle for a small snippit of the pattern. Or maybe not cause I cannot figure out how to add another picture. If anyone out there knows, give me a shout. Anyway, the pattern is a neat Puruvian type dilly and its made using a mosaic technique, saving the hassel of tangling yarns like one does in Fair Isle. Its also made out of the most squooshiest, soft, fluffy yarn ever; Silka by Mirasol. Its 60% Merino, 30% Alpaca and 10% Silk. The only downside is that I get covered in fuzz when I am working on it. Check ravelry for details!!Also, its currently beautiful in Philly ... just thought Id share. Yay Spring!!! Now just do not get any hotter!!!Peace!

And so it begins ...

Soooo, since blogging is this new trend I have been hearing about ... and since I need an excuse to write more of my thoughts down, I figured I would chronicle my semi-new interests ... Knitting and Running, hence my delightfully witty blog title!!

I caveot that other topics will occasionally rise (Baseball, anyone?), but I want this to be a more postive energy type thing, so no ranting (as I have been known to do). So thanks for listening and commenting.

Just as some background ....
Knitting - So I know this may come as a suprise, but I have wanted to learn to knit since I saw Meredith Grey do it on Grey's anatomy (I no longer watch), but never really took up the initiative. Then Christmas 2008, one of my Best Friends in the Whole Universe(TM), Tracy, learned how and I no longer had an excuse not to. So I knit a scarf ... a very sorry example of a scarf. I cast on 15 stitches and bound off 45 ... and don't ask how, I have no effing clue. Then I knit and iPod sock and a blue and yellow striped scarf, this time managing to keep a constant stitch count. Then I stopped. Then I started and stopped again.

Then I discovered what shall always be called ... the Scarf from HELL!!!! Otherwise known as the Gryffidor Harry Potter Scarf ... its not done yet. For details about this monstrosity look on ravelry and read comments ... its torture. But becasue of that scarf I began to regularly attend a knitting circle. One thing led to another and now I knit sweaters .... I blame Nicole ... notwosnowflakes on Etsy. She has an awesome store of hand dyed yarns ... definately check her out ... link
http://www.etsy.com/shop/notwosnowflakes Anyway, I dont ever intend on going back!! I love knitting and it has become a major destressor for me!!

Running - So the time came for New Years Resolutions and I was like, nah, those are for losers. Right. Anyway, I have a really horrible body image ... Probably shouldn't but for the most part I have either been mildly overweight or skinny fat for the greater part of my life. So this last December, I decided I would go to the gym and lift ... like for real for once. Low and behold I saw results, and was really happy.

But not enough. I still have a flabby belly region, so I tried the ellipitcal and eh, not really resulting in anything. Back to my New Years Resolution ... decided on the spot during a meeting. I am going to Run a half marathon by the end of the year. So the running has begun, to much better effect the ellipitical. With the added bonus of my dad has signed on so we have bet.

Anyway, thats all I got. Looking forward to writing more and figuring out how to post pictures on this thing!!!

Probably with the add photo button ...*facepalm*
